Arborg kids did not have to be reminded to eat their breakfast on Dec 3 when mounds of pancakes appeared before them at the Arborg Hall during the fifth annual “Breakfast with Santa”. Volunteers from the Arborg Noventis Credit Union were kept busy all morning , stacking plates for the hundreds of hungry parents and children who took in the event.
After breakfast, the crowd was treated to tap dance and ballet performances put on by the River Tap Dancers, a group with members from Riverton and Arborg. About 50 kids, aged three and up, danced in festive red tutus, to the delight of everyone there. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
This is the first time the River Tap Dancers has taken part in Arborg’s “Breakfast with Santa”, but the group has performed in Arborg for spring concerts, and at Riverton’s “Breakfast with Santa” event for the past three years.
Some of the children who came for the morning’s activities spent time coloring with crayons provided at each table. Other youngsters enjoyed chasing friends and sliding joyfully across the hall floor, while many more waited in line with parents to get a chance to visit with Santa.
Mrs. Claus, who obviously was fond of the Arborg children, served as greeter and kept lines orderly.
There were smiles all around as parents snapped photos of their children with the big guy. He listened closely to every child’s Christmas request. By all appearances, no one will be receiving coal this Christmas.
The Noventis Credit Union in Arborg hosted this year’s ‘Breakfast with Santa”. Money raised will be donated to the Arborg Christmas Cheer Board.
Riverton celebrated its annual “Breakfast with Santa” on Dec. 4.
