…Up early today—before K. Awakened by a strange dream: I was sitting at a long table, the kind one finds in a church basement. We were in some kind of a basement hall, with my Dad, K, Carole, and Iris. Each of them had something to say about my behaviour: My Dad was condemning me for something, (I think, my lifestyle). K was criticising me for the way I am. Carole said something about the way I cause embarrassment. Only Iris was nonjudgemental. She asked me if I’d ever seen Star Trek.

I decided I was going to go out on the town. I bought 18 cans of beer and piled them onto a package of Purex toilet paper. It was binge time, although I didn’t drink anything. I was on my way to the club. No one thought it was a good idea.
